A newborn female infant was sold in Balasore. Residents claimed

Voice 9, Odisha Desk: In the Balasore district of Odisha, residents said on Thursday that a couple who had been struck by great poverty had reportedly sold their baby child to another person for Rs 10,000.

Manoj Das and Sushama Das, of Taladi the village inside the Bhograi police boundaries in the district, have been identified as the pair. On Monday, July 31, Sushama gave birth to a daughter at the Jaleswarpur Community Health Center, according to reports. The infant was allegedly then sold by the parents to a Sambalpur district resident.

Speaking to media persons, the couple said they gifted their infant to another person as they found difficulties to bring up the child due to their financial crisis. The baby was their second child, the couple added. The parents said that the infant was their second kid. A four-and-a-half-year-old child lives with the couple.
