Sangbad Voice 9, News Desk: A 19-year-old engineering student died on Wednesday (December 11) in Telangana’s Sangareddy district after his girlfriend’s mother allegedly attacked him with a cricket bat during a heated argument over the girl’s suspected pregnancy — a claim police say is still unverified.
The incident occurred at the girl’s home, about 60 km from Hyderabad. Police said the boy had gone there after the girl’s family called him to discuss their relationship. During the discussion, tensions rose and the mother allegedly began hitting her daughter. When the youth tried to intervene, she struck him on the head with a cricket bat. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead.
The girl also sustained a fracture and head injury and is currently hospitalised.
According to investigators, the girl’s mother had long opposed the relationship, though the pair had been together since class 10. The boy was studying BTech, and the girl was pursuing a degree at another college.
Police have registered cases of murder and attempted murder. Further investigation is underway.
