Indian student pilot and trainer killed in aircraft crash in the Philippines



Voice 9, International Desk: Authorities claimed an Indian student and his trainer pilot died when the wreckage of a small plane was retrieved following an accident in the Philippines. The two-seater plane registered RP-C8598, took off from Laoag City Airport in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, at 12:16 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, was its intended destination.

According to the official Philippine News Agency, Anshum Rajkumar Konde and Captain Edzel John Lumbao Tabuzo were on board the Cessna 152 that went missing in Cagayan province on Tuesday. The remains of Tabuzo and Konde have been recovered from the crash scene in Apayao province, according to the agency.

On Wednesday, a medical and rescue team on a Philippine Air Force Black Hawk helicopter located the plane's debris and bodies. The plane was flying from Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte to Tuguegarao City Airport in Cagayan.

Eric Apolonio, spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, recommended the public await an official report from the CAAP-Philippine Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the last signal transmission from the aircraft was received 35 nautical miles northwest of Alcala, Cagayan. Last February, all four people on board a Cessna aircraft perished when it crashed near the crater of Mayon Volcano.

Earlier, a concerned citizen from Sanchez Mira town captured a video showing a plane in distress above Pamplona town. The video was shared on the social media page of the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.
