Under Operation Ajay, the first batch of 212 Indians arrives in Delhi from Israel

 


Alokesh Sribastab and Agencies, New Delhi: Under the initiative known as 'Operation Ajay', the inaugural flight carrying a group of 212 Indian nationals from Israel amidst the ongoing conflict arrived in New Delhi on Friday morning. Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar was present at the airport to extend a warm welcome to the Indian nationals who disembarked in Delhi today.

He also engaged in discussions with the students present. Chandrasekhar emphasized that the Indian government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of every Indian citizen, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is resolute in his determination to protect them. 

He stated, "Our government will never abandon any Indian citizen. Our government, led by our Prime Minister, is determined to safeguard their well-being and facilitate their safe return home. We express our gratitude to EAMDr. S.  Jaishankar, the team at the Ministry of External Affairs, and the flight crew of Air India for making this operation possible, enabling the safe and secure return of our citizens to their loved ones."

Meanwhile, an Indian national who arrived from Israel was quoted by ANI as saying, "This is the first time we have encountered such a situation over there. We are immensely grateful to the Indian government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for repatriating us. We fervently hope for a swift resolution to the conflict so that we can resume our work as soon as possible. The initial group of Indian passengers boarded the flight from Tel Aviv to India as part of Operation Ajay on Thursday. 

On this occasion, Sanjeev Singla, the Indian Ambassador to Israel, affirmed that the Indian Embassy in Israel is diligently working to ensure the welfare of Indian nationals in the war-torn region. He further informed us that under "Operation Ajay," the embassy will assist Indians who wish to return to India.


"As I mentioned yesterday, the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv has been continuously working to ensure the safety and well-being of all our Indian citizens in Israel. Yesterday, the Minister of External Affairs announced Operation Ajay to facilitate the return of Indians who desire to come back to India. Today, the first flight is departing under Operation Ajay," he stated. He added, "This flight will accommodate nearly 200 Indian citizens, and the embassy will continue its efforts to assist those who wish to return to India."
