Bangladesh: The cabinet of the interim government may consist of up to 15 members; discussions are ongoing


Voice 9, International Desk: Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, is leading the interim government, and it is not clear who else is involved. However, there have been various discussions in the political arena regarding a list of names.

Today, Thursday, the interim government may take the oath. It was revealed in a press conference yesterday, Wednesday, by Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-Uz-Zaman that there could be around 15 members in the interim government. It is known that a list of 15 students involved in the anti-discrimination movement has been prepared. Dr. Yunus will discuss the list upon his return to the country today. Multiple sources from the BNP have indicated that the student movement leaders met with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday to discuss the list. There are ongoing discussions with various parties regarding the proposal of the interim government.

Discussions are underway regarding who can be involved and how many can be involved. An advisory committee has been formed by the anti-discrimination student movement for discussions with various parties. Mahfuz Alam, a student of the Law Department at Dhaka University and a member of this committee, stated to Prothom Alo last night that a unified outline may be announced today.
