Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: A man killed his father along with his friends at Bajitpur in Kishoreganj district of Bangladesh. Son Sohel Mia pressed his father's head in the paddy field during the killing.
Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury disclosed the information at a press briefing at the conference room of the police super's office on Saturday (October 26) morning.The arrestees are Sohel Miah, 24, son of deceased Nibu Miah. His three friends are electrician Babul Mia, 32, butcher Nazrul Islam, 45, and mason Sumon Mia, 26.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury said police recovered the body from a paddy field in Sultanpur area of Bajitpur upazila on October 20. The deceased was identified as Nibu Mia, 65, son of Sundar Ali of Sultanpur village in Bajitpur upazila. Later, the victim's son Abdur Rahman filed a murder case with Bajitpur police station.
He said that after registering the case, a team of police, based on technical and secret information, arrested the accused from South Pirijpur Bazar area of Bajitpur upazila. Accused directly involved in the murder from the high member's hotel. Babul was arrested. The arrested accused confessed that they killed Nibu Mia for Rs 70,000. Nibu Miah's younger son Sohel Miah and three others were arrested in connection with the murder. After his arrest, Sohel confessed to killing his father.
The Superintendent of Police also said that a year ago, the deceased Nibu Miah sold the land for Tk 21 lakh. From that money, he sent his younger son Sohel Miah abroad with Rs 6 lakh. But after six months of staying abroad, Sohel returned to the country and got married in a family way. Sohel bought an old auto-rickshaw with a loan from the NGO to run the family. But Sohel asked his father to sell the land and give him more money. They have problems with money. So Nibu Mia kept the money with him. On the day of the incident, he along with his friends killed his father Nibu Mia to take the money from his father.
Hasan Chowdhury said Babul Miah, who was detained in connection with the murder, gave a statement to the court under section 164 and said that Nibu Miah's son Sohel Miah committed the murder with them for money.
