Sangbad Voice 9, International Desk: After suffering severe injuries in a
car accident, Nilam Tanaji Shinde, a young woman from Maharashtra's Satara
district, is presently fighting for her life in a California hospital. The
35-year-old lady is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at C Davis
Medical Center in Sacramento, California, following the accident. Since doctors
need permission from her blood relatives to operate on Ms. Shinde, who is now
in a coma, her family is asking the Center for assistance in obtaining an
American visa very quickly.
Ms. Shinde, a fourth-year student at California State University, had traveled
to America for her higher education, according to her father Tanaji Shinde. Information
indicates that the driver of the vehicle that struck Ms. Shinde has been
arrested by the police. However, registering a complaint without the victim's
blood relatives present presents legal challenges for law enforcement personnel
as well.
