Mountaineer went missing in 1986, remains were discovered 37 years later

 


Voice 9, News Desk: 37 years ago, a mountaineer went missing. The remains of his corpse have now been discovered in the snow by the police. The corpse of a German man who went missing while climbing Switzerland's renowned Matterhorn peak 37 years ago has been discovered. The bones belonged to a 38-year-old man who went missing in September 1986, according to DNA tests. 

Mountaineers climbing along the Theodul Glacier near Zermatt made the find on July 12, according to police in Wallace Canton. "A DNA test enabled the identification of the climber, who had been missing since 1986," police said in a statement.
