Voice 9, News Desk: In the midst of a nationwide outcry over a viral video
depicting two women being paraded naked and sexually assaulted by a mob in
strife-torn Manipur, data compiled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)
and tabled in Parliament last week revealed that over 13.13 lakh girls and
women went missing across the country between 2019 and 2021.
According to data from the Union Home Ministry,
over 10,61,648 women over the age of 18 and 2,51,430 girls under the age of 18
went missing across the country between 2019 and 2021. According to the statistics
submitted to Parliament, 1,60,180 women and 38,234 girls went missing in Madhya
Pradesh between 2019 and 2021. In Maharashtra, 1,78,400 women and 13,033 girls
went missing.
According to the data, 1,56,905 women and 36,606
girls went missing in Mamata Banerjee's West Bengal over the same time, while
70,222 women and 16,649 girls went missing in Odisha. According to the data,
between 2019 and 2021, 49,116 women and 10,817 girls went missing in
Chhattisgarh.
