landslide killed five pilgrims on their way to Kedarnath

Voice 9, New Delhi Bureau: Five pilgrims died after being trapped beneath the rubble of a landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra path in Rudraprayag district, as the MeT department warned of heavy rains in six districts of Uttarakhand for the next few days on Friday. Three pilgrims from Gujarat and one from Haridwar were among those killed. The police said they were doing their best to identify the fifth victim.

Five pilgrims in a car were buried in the debris of a landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra road in Rudraprayag district on Thursday night, but their bodies were found on Friday due to a break in the torrential rains.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a ground survey of the rain-soaked Kotdwar area, where a man went missing in a landslide a few days ago and multiple bridges were destroyed, isolating a considerable population from the rest of the state.

Because of the constant rains, everyday life in the state has been severely disrupted. Natural disasters like landslides, floods, and cloudbursts have caused significant loss of life and property in the state this year as a result of severe rainfall.

According to the State Emergency Operation Center, 58 people have died and 37 have been wounded in various instances during this monsoon season, with 19 others still missing.
