On August 15, the Bangladesh PM paid homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu at Tungipara



Biswajit Mondal, Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Yesterday, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at his grave on the occasion of his 48th martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning Day.

The prime minister paid homage by placing wreaths at the mausoleum of Bangabandhu at 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday.

After placing the wreath, the prime minister stood in silence for a while as a mark of respect to the memory of the great architect of independence. A contingent of the three services gave a guard of honor to the prime minister. The tune rings in the bugle.

Later, the prime minister, along with her younger sister Sheikh Rehana and her family members, recited Fateha and prayed for peace to the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, and other martyrs of the August 15, 1975 massacre.

Prayers were also offered, seeking continued peace, progress, and prosperity for the country.



Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, along with senior leaders of the Awami League, later placed another wreath at the grave of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party. Later, leaders of different organs and associated bodies of the Awami League also placed wreaths at the grave.

On the occasion of National Mourning Day, the prime minister joined Milad and Doa Mahfil, along with cabinet members, her advisers, party leaders, and workers, at the mausoleum premises. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also placed wreaths at the grave of Bangabandhu.
