Voice 9, News Desk: The deceased couple have been identified as Gayathri (24) from Ramanathapuram and Saravanan (29) from Thoothukudi. Tragically, this couple, who had been married for a mere four months, took their own lives at their rented apartment in Perungalathur on Wednesday morning.
Gayathri was employed as an IT worker in
Semmenchery, while Saravanan worked at a tire manufacturing unit in Oragadam.
According to a senior police officer, Saravanan returned home around 3 a.m.
after completing his shift, only to discover Gayathri lifeless. Overwhelmed by
this devastating sight, Saravanan also resorted to the extreme measure of
taking his own life. The commotion attracted the attention of their neighbors,
who, upon finding the door locked, promptly alerted the police.
The bodies
were subsequently recovered by the Peerkankaranai police and transferred to
Chromepet Government Hospital for postmortem examination. In a note left behind
by Gayathri, she expressed her inability to continue living with Saravanan,
stating that despite her efforts to adapt for a few months, she found it
impossible to sustain their relationship.
Further
investigations revealed that Saravanan had a habit of frequent drinking. A case
has been registered, and an ongoing investigation is underway to shed light on
the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
