Voice 9, War Desk: Since the commencement of Israel's bombardment of Gaza on Saturday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported that a total of 1,203 Palestinians have lost their lives, with an additional 5,763 individuals sustaining injuries.
On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces announced that they are currently engaged in a significant strike against Hamas targets in Gaza, marking the sixth day of the ongoing conflict. The situation in the coastal enclave has rapidly deteriorated, resulting in a humanitarian crisis.
This large-scale offensive and invasion, initiated by the Palestinian militant group Hamas from the Gaza Strip, began on October 7, 2023. It is important to note that this Israel vs. Palestine conflict is the first direct conflict between Israel and Gaza within Israel's borders since the Arab-Israeli war in 1948.
The militant group breached the Gaza-Israel
Barrier and forcefully entered Israeli settlements and military installations
through the Gaza border crossing. The opposition commenced with a
vehicle-transported incursion into Israeli territory and a barrage of rockets
launched towards Israel. Multiple attacks were carried out on Israeli military
bases and surrounding civilian communities.
Some observers have referred to this conflict as the beginning of a third Palestinian Intifada. As a result of Hamas militants breaching Israel's borders and launching over three thousand rockets from the Gaza Strip, more than 900 Israelis have lost their lives. In response to the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared in a national address that "Israel is at war."
