9, New Delhi Bureau: The BCCI has yet to initiate talks regarding the future of
Team India's support staff, which is led by head coach Rahul Dravid, as per
reports. Dravid was appointed as the team's head coach in 2021, replacing Ravi
Shastri, and was given a two-year contract by the BCCI. However, his future
with the national team is uncertain after their defeat in the World Cup final
against Australia. Dravid's contract with the BCCI ended on Sunday, and the
board has not yet discussed the issue of his renewal. When asked about his future
plans and whether he would be willing to coach in a single format, Dravid did
not provide a definitive answer, stating that he would only consider it after
reflecting on the tournament. Despite the loss, Dravid expressed his pride in
working with the Indian team over the past two years and stated that it had
been a privilege to work with the players.
Dravid expressed his lack of consideration for
the upcoming T20 World Cup, emphasizing his focus on the ongoing tournament and
his absence of future plans. Additionally, he commended Rohit Sharma, the
captain of the Indian team, for his exceptional leadership qualities and
dedication to the team. Dravid highlighted Rohit's commitment by mentioning his
efforts to establish a strong bond with the players and his availability for
discussions and meetings.
