Ma Janani' trailer from Chittagong, said, "For many days, very few fish were being caught in the sea. Our livelihood was at stake. We couldn't even imagine catching such a large quantity of hilsa in this cold season. By selling these fish, we will be able to recover from our previous losses. I sold the 92 mon of hilsa at a rate of 22 thousand taka per maund."
Raju Ahmed Raja, the General Manager of the Mahipur Fish Landing Center, said, "It is rare for us to come across such a large quantity of fish in the winter season. Suddenly, bringing in so many fish has also boosted the enthusiasm of people from other districts. If this enthusiasm continues throughout the year, even businessmen will benefit. Hopefully, all the districts with access to the sea will find good-quality fish."
Apu Saha, Senior Fisheries Officer of Kalapara Upazila, said, "The large quantity of hilsa caught in the district's nets indicates the success of the ban on catching mother hilsa in the sea, which has been implemented twice a year. If the districts throw their nets into the deep sea, even more fish will be caught. Additionally, in February and March, Hilsa can be caught in the district's nets in large numbers."
