Bangladesh: Today, the newly elected members of parliament took an oath


Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: The newly elected members of parliament took an oath at the first-level oath room of the eastern block of the parliament building in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Wednesday (January 10) morning. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered their oath. Earlier, the speaker herself took the oath according to the rules.

On this day, the newly elected members of parliament entered the premises of the National Parliament building in the morning. They entered through gate 12 of the parliament building. The speaker entered the oath room at 10:08 a.m.
It is known that after taking the oath, the members of parliament signed the oath book. Then they concluded other formalities at the secretary's office. They will participate in the Awami League parliamentary party meeting at 12 p.m.
It is known that the Awami League, the largest party in parliament, will discuss and elect their leader. Then the president will invite the leader of the largest party to form the government. The second-largest party will request in writing from the Speaker the approval of the leader of the opposition party in parliament.
According to the rules, after the election of the parliament leader and the Prime Minister's oath, the Speaker will send a proposal to the President for the first session of the new parliament. Then the president will announce the parliament session. It is known that this session could be called on January 28 or 30. At the beginning of the session, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the new parliament will be elected.
According to the results announced by the Election Commission, in the non-government results of 298 seats, the Awami League has won 222, the National Party 11, the Workers Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Party, and Bangladesh Kalyan Party one each, and independent candidates have won 62 seats.
On Tuesday (January 9), the Election Commission published the results of the 12th National Parliament election in the gazette.
