International Desk: The search and rescue teams have made a significant
discovery, locating the remnants of a small aircraft that plunged into the
waters off the coast of California in close proximity to San Francisco. The
distress signals emitted by the aircraft prompted the initial report of the crash
at approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, near Half Moon Bay, as detailed by KRON-TV.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office has verified that the upturned
aircraft was found in the vicinity of Ross Cove, roughly 25 miles (40
kilometers) to the south of San Francisco.
Presently, officials are present at the scene, meticulously examining the wreckage in pursuit of additional information. A woman's lifeless form was sighted in the water by a commercial fishing vessel on Monday morning, according to a disclosure made by the San Mateo Sheriff's Office through an official press statement. The body has been conveyed to the coroner's office, with efforts ongoing to establish the individual's identity.
No immediate details have emerged regarding the total occupants of the
aircraft, potential survivors, or the specific model of the aircraft involved
in the tragic incident.
Melissa Richter recounted her experience of dining on the patio at Moss
Beach Distillery, recalling the ominous sound of an engine faltering, akin to
scenes depicted in movies portraying an imminent plane crash.
"The aircraft passed over the apex of the building," she
recounted.
At present, critical information concerning the number of individuals
aboard, potential survivors, and the precise aircraft model involved remains
undisclosed.
"We sensed that something was amiss due to the aircraft's proximity
to the restaurant," Richter conveyed to KRON. She further added that the
engine ceased functioning and the aircraft "veered sharply, disappearing
from our view at that juncture."
