Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: In the heat of the moment, Faisal Haoladar, the son-in-law, set fire to his father-in-law's houses in the Patuakhali town of Baufal. The
incident took place in the Warashtandi area of Baufal town's Ward No. 1 on
Monday (January 15) around 2:30 p.m.
It is known from eyewitnesses and other sources that Faisal Haoladar's
son, Faisal Haoladar (25), married Ankhi Nur (22), the daughter of his uncle
Rafiq Haoladar, two to three years ago against the family's wishes. This led to
unrest between the two families. Faisal used to frequently abuse his wife,
Ankhi Nur, who was mostly staying at her father's house.
The day before the incident, on Sunday night, Faisal forcefully took his
wife, Ankhi Nur, from her in-law's house.
Later, with the help of locals, Rafiq Haoladar rescued his daughter,
Ankhi Nur, and brought her home. Enraged by this, Faisal went to his
father-in-law's house on Monday at around 11 a.m. and attacked. At this time,
he also damaged the TV, fridge, and other belongings.
After the incident, when Rafiq Haoladar lodged a complaint at the police
station, the police went to the house in the afternoon and arrested Faisal.
After the police arrived, Faisal set fire to Rafiq Haoladar's house. The fire
also spread to the neighboring house of the other uncle, Shah Alam, also known
as Boba Shah Alam.
The accused, Faisal, and his family members are currently absconding and
could not be reached for comment. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shonit Kumar Gayen of
Baufal Police Station said that no written complaint has been received so far
regarding this incident. The police have inspected the scene of the incident
upon receiving the news. If a complaint is filed, legal action will be taken.
