Buffalo fight: “We ensure that there is no harm either to the buffalo or to the birds, says Assam C.M.

Voice 9, North-East News Desk: Buffalo fights, also known as Moh-juj, have been a controversial traditional event in Assam and some other parts of India. Animal rights activists have raised concerns about the treatment of animals at such events, arguing that they involve cruelty and should be banned. On the other hand, proponents of these traditions argue that they are integral to the local culture and have been practiced for generations.

On traditional buffalo fights (popularly known as Moh-juj in Assam) and Bulbul bird fights, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says, "These are part of our age-old traditions, all these fights. But one important point is that we ensure that there is no harm either to the buffalo or to the birds."
