Two young men die after drinking date palm sap


Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: In Manikganj's Manta and Ghoshta villages, two young men named Babul Hossen (35) and Lutfur Rahman (27) have died after being infected with the Nipah virus from drinking date palm sap for 15 days.

On Saturday (January 27), Babul Hossen passed away at 12 a.m. while undergoing treatment at Dhaka's Dhanmondi Popular Hospital.
The deceased Babul Hossen was the son of Mainuddin, a former UP member of Ward 1 of Mantapara Union in Sadar Upazila.
On the other hand, on January 16, Lutfur Rahman (27), the son of Najimuddin from Ghoshta Jahangirnagar village in the same union, died after being infected with the Nipah virus from drinking date palm sap.
Chairman Mahidur Rahman Mahid of Putail UP said, "Fifteen days ago, Babul Hossen fell ill after drinking date palm sap. He was initially admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for treatment. However, due to a deterioration in his condition, he was urgently taken to Dhaka's Dhanmondi Popular Hospital for advanced treatment. He passed away there at 12 a.m. last Saturday night. On Sunday (January 28) at 11 a.m., the funeral of Mantapara was held in his own village, and he was buried in the local graveyard.
