Today is the 150th anniversary of Alipore Zoo



Voice 9, Kolkata Bureau:  A ceremony was held on Tuesday to mark the occasion. On September 24, 1875, the zoo was founded. The next year, the so-called Prince of Wales Zoological Garden was opened to the public.

Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim presided over the meeting. MP Mala Roy, Chairman of West Bengal Forest Development Corporation Tapan Dasgupta, Vice-Chairperson Dr Maria Fernandes, Secretary Manoj Agarwal, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Niraj Singhal and others will be present. It is to be noted that the 150th anniversary of the country's oldest and scientifically built Alipore Zoo is being commemorated in a special way.

 


 On this occasion, a year-long program has been organized with the help of various non-governmental organizations in the presence of school and college students. There are many programs today. The statue of Rai Bahadur Ram Brahm Sanyal will be installed. A special souvenir will also be released by the authorities.




 A new enclosure and a new gate will be inaugurated to increase the attraction of wildlife. It will begin with a grand ceremony. Today is an all-day event at the Nature Information Centre of Alipore Zoo. Forest Minister Birbaha Hansda will preside over the function.
