Durga idol vandalized in Kishoreganj

 


Voice 9 Dhaka Bureau: An idol of Durga was vandalized at a temple in Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, late at night. The incident took place at Sri Sri Jeur Akhara on the Baro Bazar-Manipurghat road in the district's Batrish area in the early hours of Thursday. Liton Sarkar, president of Gopinath Sangh's temple puja celebration committee, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune. He said that the policemen were in the hills during the day yesterday as usual. Later in the night, members of the local Gopinath Sangha organization went to sleep at around 3:30 pm from the statue hill.




Later in the morning, miscreants vandalized the statue and fled the spot. For the first time in this Akhara, worship was being organized by making idols for Durga Puja. Meanwhile, Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury assured that the culprits will be identified and brought under the law. "We have visited the spot," he said.
