Bangladesh: Six family members were killed in a house fire

 


Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: A fire has broken out at a shelter project in Jayashree union of Dharmapasha upazila in Sunamganj, Bangladesh. Six members of the same family were killed in the fire. The incident occurred last evening.

The deceased are Emarul, 50, his wife Poli Akhter, and their four children, Palash Mia, 9, Farhad, 7, Fatema Begum, 5, and Umar Faruk, 3. He is a jail inmate by profession.

According to local and police sources, the door was locked from inside the house on Monday night. People nearby doused the fire. The locals then informed the police. Later, police and locals broke open the door and entered the house. His wife and four children were among the dead.

Superintendent of Police of the district, Md. Shahidullah, confirmed the matter. He said the investigation is still ongoing. The cause of the fire will be known later. We have tested the electrical short circuit; this is fine.
