Sangbad Voice 9, Prayag: Approximately 30 women sustained injuries during a stampede-like incident at the Maha Kumbh on the morning of Mauni Amavasya, leading the Akharas to postpone the sacred bathing ritual. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reported that some devotees were "seriously injured" in the chaos, but assured that the situation is now under control. He is actively overseeing the developments in Prayagraj alongside senior officials and has urged devotees to exercise patience, suggesting they bathe at nearby ghats rather than crowding towards the Sangam.
As millions of devotees flocked to the tent city in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, in anticipation of the 'Amrit Snan', barricades located about a kilometer from the Sangam collapsed, causing several women to faint. This triggered a stampede-like scenario, prompting immediate medical attention for those affected. The injured were transported to a hospital within the Maha Kumbh grounds, with some seriously hurt individuals being transferred to Bailey Hospital and Swaroop Rani Medical College for further care.
Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad president Mahant Ravindra Puri announced the cancellation of the Mauni Amavasya Amrit Snan. "As you may have witnessed this morning's events, we have made the decision to call off the ritual. All our saints and seers were prepared for the 'snan' when we received news of the incident, which led to this decision," Mahant Ravindra Puri stated to PTI.
