A constable commits suicide by shooting himself with his rifle



Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: In Panchagarh, Bangladesh, a police constable is said to have shot himself in the head while on duty. The police did not provide details, but they suspect this incident may have been the result of a family argument. Around two in the morning on Thursday, the event happened at the Sonali Bank area in the Panchagarh district. Firoz Ahmed, 25, the son of Abu Sayeed, a police officer from the Poly Mirzapur Abtabganj neighborhood of the Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur, was identified as the deceased.

A year ago, he began working for the Panchagarh police. Colleagues claim that Firoz attempted suicide in the middle of the night by shooting himself in the neck with his gun. He was thereafter taken to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital by his coworkers, where doctors declared him dead.

Saidul Islam Faisal, a doctor at Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital, said that Firoz was brought to the hospital by police with bullet wounds.

Blood was dripping from his lips and ears, and he had a hole in his throat. The post-mortem report will reveal further information. After an autopsy, the deceased's body will be given to the family, according to the police.
