Ladakh: Missing 3 soldiers are yet to be found

 


Voice 9, New Delhi Bureau: The army started searching for the missing three soldiers, but they have not yet been found. The three soldiers went missing after a snow avalanche swept them in an area near the 23,219-foot-high Kun Peak, located 61 km south of Kargil.

Avalanche occurred in Mount Coon, Ladakh. At the Army training school, there was an avalanche. 40 soldiers were affected by the avalanche. An army soldier also died due to the snow. Three more people are missing. The army has started searching for them.

According to Army sources, the Indian Army training center, High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS), is located near Mount Coon in Ladakh. Besides, there is the Army Adventure Wing. The jawans are given routine training there.

According to that source, 40 soldiers were there on Monday. An avalanche occurred in the area during the training. The soldiers fell under the grip of it. An army official said, "Unfortunately, the avalanche occurred unexpectedly during the training." Four jawans are buried under the debris. After removing the debris, one body was recovered.

The rest are yet to be traced. The army is searching for them. However, due to bad weather and excessive snow piles, rescue operations are facing problems, an army official said.
