Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Two young women have died due to excessive alcohol consumption in Madaripur.
Two more people have been admitted to the
hospital in this incident. On Saturday (October 14), the incident took place at
a house in the College Road area of Ward No. 3 of Madaripur Municipality around
2.30 a.m. The officer-in-charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, Manowar Hossain
Chowdhury, confirmed the truth of the incident.
According to local and police sources, Sagarika
(20), her girlfriend Parul (25), her mother Sabina Yasmin, and her uncle Babu
drank too much alcohol and fell asleep on Saturday night. Later, hearing their
screams, the caretaker of the house, Helal Sardar, ran into the room. At that
time, Sagarika was seen lying dead on the floor.
Apart from this, Sagarika's girlfriend, Parul,
Sagarika's mother, and her uncle were rescued by the locals and taken to the
district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared Parul and Sagarika dead.
Meanwhile, local sources said that three people rented the house on October 1.
On Saturday night, 3–4 more unknown women came home.
This happened later. After that, there was no
trace of the strangers. Abdur Rahman, a local resident, said, "From what
was found inside their house, we believe that they have been in this condition
due to excessive drinking."
Riaz Mahmud, a doctor on duty at Madaripur Sadar
Hospital, said that four to five women were admitted here late at night. Two of
them have already died. The condition of two others is critical. The rest will
be known after the autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manowar Hossain Chowdhury said that initially it was
learned that Sagarika fell asleep after drinking alcohol with her girlfriend,
mother, and uncle. Then everyone got sick. Two of them died. Legal action will
be taken after the investigation.
