A woman and her daughter-in-law were electrocuted to death while trying to scare away rabbits


Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: In a tragic incident, a woman and her daughter-in-law were electrocuted to death in Dakope, Khulna. The incident took place on Tuesday (March 19) at 11 a.m. in Harintana village of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Chhobla Gain (65), the wife of Chittaranjan Gain, a resident of Harintana village in Loudob Union, and her daughter-in-law, Tumpa Gain (36).

According to the police and locals, an electric trap was set up to scare away rabbits in the paddy field using the rural electricity connection. On Tuesday morning, when Chhobla Gain went to pick vegetables in the paddy field, she got electrocuted and screamed for help. Upon hearing her scream, her daughter-in-law, Tumpa Gain, rushed to rescue her but also got electrocuted. Both of them were found dead, and their bodies were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Haque of Dakope Police Station confirmed that the two women died from electrocution. The bodies have been transported to Khulna Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
