Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of the historic 7th of March.
The prime minister placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu kept at Dhanmondi 32 at 7:01 a.m. on Thursday. Sheikh Hasina stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the architect of Bangladesh.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the party leaders in paying rich tributes to the former president. After paying homage to Sheikh Hasina, No. 32 was opened for all.
Later, people from different walks of life, including the Krishak League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, associate and brotherly organizations, and social and cultural organizations, paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu.
On this day in 1971, the great poet of Bangladesh's independence, Shonan, recited his immortal poem. At the sound of his thunderbolt, the call of the freedom struggle was heard in the sky of Bengal. A crowd of people clapped their hands.
The red-green flag with the map of Bangladesh fluttered in the drunken air of spring with the slogan of millions of people. A million voices were raised.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said, "Our struggle this time is for independence. Today is a unique day of glory written in golden letters in the history of Bangladesh's freedom struggle and liberation war.
