Tapan Dasgupta, to demand punitive action against the culprits.
On August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was reportedly raped and murdered while on duty at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, triggering nationwide strikes and protests by the medical community. The Indian Medical Association announced a 24-hour doctors' strike on August 16 to protest the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College. The CBI is investigating, and multiple arrests have been made for related vandalism.
