A college girl was raped in Kishoreganj; two were arrested.



Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: A female college student was allegedly raped by her driver and his assistant while she was returning home in a CNG-run autorickshaw in Kuliarchar, Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. The victim has lodged a complaint with police in this regard.
Police arrested two people, including the driver, on Thursday night. They were sent to judicial custody on Friday.
The victim is said to be a resident of Kishoreganj Sadar upazila. On Wednesday night, he arrived at Bhairab in Kishoreganj from Barisal in different vehicles. She was raped on her way home in an autorickshaw.
According to the case statement, the victim studied at a college in Barisal. He boarded a bus in Dhaka around 2 p.m. on Wednesday to come home to Kishoreganj from Barisal. He arrived at the Sayedabad bus stand in Dhaka around 9 p.m. He reached Bhairab by bus from Saidabad at 12 o'clock in the night. As there was no bus from Bhairab to Kishoreganj, he boarded a CNG-run autorickshaw. The passengers included two men and a woman. After some distance, the driver called one of his associates and picked him up in the car.
The statement added that the plaintiff fell asleep in the car at one point as he was tired due to the long journey. The other passengers got out of the car. Upon waking up, the plaintiff saw him in the car, along with the driver and the caller. At around 2:45 pm, he was taken out of the autorickshaw in the Champakanda area of Kalakupa in Kuliarchar and taken to a bamboo bush. The two then raped her. Later, they took away his mobile phone and cash. He was walking alone at night when he met someone on the road. He called the emergency number 999 and was rescued by the police.
Kuliarchar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sarwar Jahan said: "CNG driver Shah Alam was arrested from Durjoy Mor of Bhairab at night. He is the son of Ayub Ali of Mahadevpara in Ahmedpur upazila. Tanvir was arrested from Akbarnagar at around 1 pm. His mobile phone was recovered from her. Tanveer owns a flexiload shop at Akbarnagar bus stand.
