Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Four school students have been killed after being hit by a microbus in Kushtia's Khoksa. Another person was injured. The incident took place at 7.15 am on Sunday (September 29).
The deceased are Mim Khatun, 12, daughter of Hanif Sheikh, Tanzila, 11, daughter of Palan Sheikh, Bithi Khatun, 12, daughter of Helal Sheikh, Sadia, 12, daughter of Palan Sheikh, and Fatema Khatun, 10, daughter of Anwar Hossain.
Their home is in the village of Kuthipara in Shimulia Union. The deceased and the injured were students of Shimulia Kuthipara Jami Mosque. They were reading the Quran.
One of them died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries at Khoksa Upazila Health Complex, said Dr Shahina Khanam. Three of the injured died on the way to Kushtia General Hospital.
Kushtia Highway police officer-in-charge Akul Chandra Biswas confirmed the incident. The death toll stands at four. Police said efforts are on to control the situation.
