Bangladesh Durga Puja: The biggest religious festival ended with the immersion of idols

Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: Durga Puja is the biggest festival of the Hindus in the country. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the event. Devotees mourned the death of the goddess. Earlier, women were seen playing with vermilion in the mandap.
Goddess Durga leaves the mortal world and returns to Kailash. With this, the festive season comes to an end. For this, immersion of idols is going on across the country. Devotees hope that Mahamaya will take away all the evil forces from the world and bless them. The Sharadiya festival ends today with the immersion of idols.
After 3 pm on Sunday, a victory procession was taken out from Palashi Mor under the leadership of the Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee. Devotees immersed the idols at Sadarghat.

The immersion of idols has started in the Waijghat area of Old Dhaka. Meanwhile, the idol immersion rally has started from Palashi Mor towards the Waizghat area. The Ministry of Home Affairs has fixed the time for immersion of idols by 7 p.m. on Sunday. The idols will be immersed at 11 places in Dhaka. This year, Durga Puja was celebrated in 32,000 mandapas across the country, while in the capital, it was celebrated in 257 mandapas.

Police said all security arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the festival. Dashami Puja is performed on Saturday after Mahanavami. Devotees pray to Goddess Durga for prosperity and well-being. After that, it is discarded. On Saturdays, Pushpanjali, Prasad distribution, and Bhog Aarti are held in the evening in the mandaps. Every mandap is overwhelmed by the sound of Goddess Durga's farewell. This year, Durga Puja has been organized in about 32,000 puja mandaps across the country.
