Alokesh Srivastab, Voice 9, New Delhi Bureau: The Shri Krishna Janmotsav is fast approaching, and Hindu devotees are eagerly preparing for this joyous occasion with great enthusiasm. Temples are also making arrangements to celebrate the birth of the revered deity. A multitude of people are expected to visit Mathura, where numerous special events will be held to commemorate this day. The festivities honoring Lord Krishna's birth will span three days.
As is customary, there is some confusion among
devotees regarding the exact date on which to observe this festival. Many
choose to follow the date on which Janmashtami is celebrated in Mathura.
Janmashtami falls on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha.
Kapil Sharma, Secretary of the Shri Krishna
Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, has announced the date on which Janmashtami will be
celebrated in Mathura and Banke Bihari Mandir. In Braj, the festival will be
celebrated for three days. The ancient temple of Thakur Shri Keshav Dev will
observe the festival on September 6, as Lord Krishna's birth is celebrated on
the day of Ashtami. The other temples in Mathura will celebrate the festival on
September 7, while in Nandgaon, it will be celebrated on September 8.
