Voice 9, Agartala: Today, there will be a 12-hour shutdown in several districts of Tripura, according to the Twipra Students' Federation (TSF).
The
TSF has called for a shutdown in some areas of Tripura because they want a
Roman script for the Kokborok language. Additionally calling for a revision to
Article 125 of the Indian Constitution is the Tripura student body.
At 6 a.m., the Hatai
Kotor, Hezamara, Bishramganj, Manughat, and Champaknagar regions of Tripura
observe a 12-hour closure. The TSF referred to the strike as a "people's
movement" and encouraged widespread support to ensure its success.
It should be noted that at
least 19 tribal tribes in Tripura speak the Kokborok language. However, this
ancient tongue lacks a script despite being recognized as an official tongue in
Tripura.
The TSF leaders raised their
complaints, claiming that the Tripura government has not yet responded to a
memo they sent two months ago about the usage of Roman script for the Kokborok
language. We sent a note to the state administration two months ago, but we
haven't heard anything from them yet, according to TSF general secretary Hamal
Jamatia.
