Hospital rape case: Doctors claim security lapses at hospitals.  suspended two security personnel

Voice 9, Kolkata Bureau: The absence of surveillance in critical zones, illicit schemes, inadequate facilities for on-call physicians, and lack of scrutiny for nocturnal entrants — the medical practitioners denouncing the assault and homicide of their comrade have asserted that these elements contribute to an insecure setting at one of West Bengal's largest medical institutions, sprawling across 26 acres in Kolkata.

The assembly chamber in the 'emergency' edifice where the doctor's remains were discovered lacks CCTV monitoring, as per the demonstrators. They further claimed that neither the passageways nor the wards on the levels are equipped with CCTV cameras. "Solely the principal entrance of the structure is under CCTV surveillance. The majority of the apparent CCTV cameras are non-operational. There is an absence of a prompt reaction unit," alleged Subhendu Mullick, a seasoned resident physician at NRS Hospital who recently served at R G Kar. Hospital administrators were unresponsive to address these assertions, along with other accusations.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) released a robust statement on Saturday urging immediate intervention in the purported rape and killing of a second-year postgraduate resident physician in Kolkata and cautioned of nationwide demonstrations if the stipulations are not fulfilled within 48 hours. The IMA conveyed profound dismay regarding the slaying of the intern physician and censured the existing circumstances that facilitated such a barbaric act on the premises.
