World Indigenous Peoples Day: Held at the BDO office in Polbadadpur and the Panduwa Kakli auditorium

 


Voice 9, Hooghly:  On the occasion of World Indigenous Peoples Day, the celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day was held at the BDO  office in Polbaddapur and the Panduwa Kakli auditorium. This is an international day observed every year on August 9th. The United Nations has been observing this day globally since 1994.

Present at this event were the state ministers Snehasish Chakraborty and Becharam Manna, District Magistrate Mukta Arya, MLA Tapan Dasgupta, MLA Asima Patra, MLA Ratna Denag, MLA Asit Majumdar, Speaker Ranjondhara, and other officials. Indigenous peoples have contributed to various issues worldwide, whether it be environmental conservation or other areas. Their contributions are evident in all fields. To acknowledge this, World Indigenous Peoples Day is celebrated every year on August 9th. In addition to raising awareness, the day is also celebrated to protect the rights of indigenous peoples.




 Furthermore, in the United Nations General Assembly, an international year for the world's indigenous peoples was declared in 1993. It was in that year that an international decade for the world's indigenous peoples was announced. The decade began on December 10, 1994. The second international decade for indigenous peoples was declared from 2005 to 2015.
