Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: In Bagerhat's Morelganj,
a woman member elected to the reserved seat of the Union Parishad has been
enjoying a widow's allowance for years after showing her husband dead. Shahinur
Begum, a member of the Khaulia Union, is doing the work. He is collecting a
widow's allowance from Ward No. 2 of Morelganj Sadar Union.
Shahinur Begum has withdrawn about Tk 51,000 as
a widow's allowance since 2014.
According to the information, from May 4, 2020,
to June 17, this year, he transferred to his used mobile phone and withdrew Tk
21,000 as a widow's allowance. The account is on.
On November 2, 2021, Shahinur Begum was elected
as a member of the reserved seats of 4, 5, and 6 in Khaulia Union No. 16. Her
husband is from Dhansagar village. Delwar Hossain Sheikh is working as the
labor chief of the ongoing 40-day job creation program under the Union
Parishad. They also have two children.
Shahinur Begum, a member of the committee, said
she used to live in Morelganj Sadar Union at one time. At that time, the union
chairman gave her a widow's allowance card. Later, she was elected a member of
the Khaulia Union at her husband's address but did not stop collecting
allowances.
