tragic incident of a woman taking her own life and poisoning her children has
left the residents of Fatehpur district in disbelief. The news quickly spread,
prompting people from neighboring villages to gather in Harichandrakheda
village.
A woman fed poisonous substances to two children and hanged herself. One
child's life was saved by spitting poison, while the other died while being
taken to Kanpur. A case was registered against five, including the husband of
the woman.
In the meantime, the maternal
relatives made their presence known. They began causing chaos by accusing the
in-laws of committing murder. In the midst of this, the villagers rallied
together in support of their in-laws. Following a disagreement between the two
parties, a sudden outbreak of fighting and stone-throwing occurred. Bhai
Balwant arrived from the deceased's mother's house in two vehicles, accompanied
by a group of individuals, including women. The brother and others accused the
in-laws of murdering their sister and hanging her body. The maternal relatives
referred to her husband, Vinod, as a drug addict and a paramour.
On the occasion of the protest,
individuals from her mother's side turned into aggressors. Witnessing this,
both the family and the villagers rallied in support of Vinod. It was fortunate
that the police were present at that time, as it prevented a larger incident
from occurring. The brother of the deceased revealed that his sister had been
married in 2008, and since then, her in-laws have subjected her to constant
harassment. Sarla tragically took her own life due to the unbearable torture
she endured.
Compromises had been attempted multiple times, and in 2018, her sister had been
physically assaulted. The matter had even been reported to the police station.
On Saturday night, her husband, mother-in-law, cousin father-in-law,
brother-in-law Suresh, and brother-in-law Pattar Pal had all assaulted her,
resulting in a head injury. It was the relentless torture that ultimately led
Sarla to take her own life and poison her son.
Neighbors have raised questions
after Anshi, one of the daughters, revealed that their mother took her own life
following a phone conversation. The family had been in a state of panic due to
the tragic deaths of their mother and brother. Anshi explained that their
mother had asked her brother, Ansh, to change the buffalo peg, and when he
failed to do so, she became angry and physically confronted him. The altercation
continued within the family until midnight. Additionally, there had been a
dispute between the grandmother and the mother.
