Brazil plane crash: Families gather at the morgue to identify their loved ones' bodies

  


Voice 9, International Desk: Families of Brazilian plane crash victims convene in Sao Paulo while specialists strive to identify the deceased. Governor Ratinho Junior of Parana State disclosed that a minimum of eight physicians were among the passengers. Additionally, four professors from Unioeste University in western Parana were tragically lost in the incident.

Among the passengers, three-year-old Liz Ibba dos Santos, accompanied by her father, stood as the sole child listed. Furthermore, the remains of Luna, a canine companion of a Venezuelan family on board, were discovered amidst the wreckage. The bereaved families of the 62 individuals who perished in the airliner crash are currently assembled at a morgue and hotels in Sao Paulo, awaiting the forensic examination to ascertain the identities of the victims.




The Sao Paulo state government confirmed the recovery of all victims' remains, with the pilot, Danilo Santos Romano, and co-pilot, Humberto de Campos Alencar e Silva, being the first to be identified. The wreckage contained 34 male and 28 female bodies, as reported by local authorities. Initially reported to be carrying 57 passengers and four crew members from Cascavel in Paraná to Guarulhos airport in São Paulo, it was later revealed that an additional unidentified passenger was on board.

The flight data recorders have been retrieved and transferred for comprehensive analysis following the tragic crash that claimed the lives of 58 passengers and four crew members. Valinhos authorities confirmed the absence of survivors, with only one residence in a local housing complex sustaining damage from the aircraft's descent, fortunately without causing harm to any residents.
