According to authorities, the victim, Acharya Sri Kamakumara Nandi Maharaj, has been residing at Nandi Parvata Jain Basadi for the previous 15 years. According to authorities, two people have been arrested in this case: Narayana Basappa Madi and Hassan Dalayath.
In light of the heinous incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah formed an inquiry team and directed officials to properly investigate the situation.
"On July 6, the manager of the Basadi Bheemappa Ugare lodged a complaint about the missing Jain Muni (monk). We started an investigation and arrested two people," the officer told the news agency.
The investigation found that the monk, a member of the Digambar section of Jainism, used to lend money. He is reported to have loaned money to the suspects.
The officer said that when the monk inquired about the money he loaned them, they killed him.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed shock at the killing and said he has asked police officers to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are punished by the court. Siddaramaiah stated in a statement that the culprits should face harsh punishment.
The statement said, "No one is permitted to take the law into their hands. Our officers have intensified their investigation and some people have been taken into custody. I have given directions that none of the accused should escape."
