If not cautious, new authors might be fooled by a group of fraudulent publishers in a wide range of ways

Voice 9, News Desk: Along with conventional publishing, the industries of internet publishing, digital books, and audiobook publishing are currently seeing significant growth in a number of nations, including India. Additionally, there is a growing demand for this kind of digital book and audio. So suddenly, there are a lot of publishing businesses on the market. Their primary target is the new generation of authors. These publishing firms are not all dishonest.

However, there are businesses that do not have transparent procedures, reliable sales projections, royalties' disputes, or agreements in place to lead clients to believe that it will be very difficult to even file a lawsuit against them. They are accused of misleading fresh authors day after day. The list of complaints also includes the names of several Indian businesses.

How do they con people?

This group of dishonest publishers encourages the free release of writers' PODs and e-books. The authors are informed that they must pay a significant sum of money to purchase their ISBN number after submitting their work to them. They must purchase a predetermined quantity of author copies.

The so-called publishers demand an alternative cost to sell books online; otherwise, this book would only be available on the publisher's website.

Some publishing firms don't disclose their royalty thresholds out front. Later, it was discovered that the writers would not receive a payment if a specific number of royalties were not gathered.

Another occurrence that has been noted is that the majority of writers do not go beyond that limit. Writers must trust what they see on the dashboard of authors since it is impossible for them to know how many books are being sold.

This is a massive hoax. A dashboard of an Indian publishing business reveals extremely few book sales for one author. Then, he purchased books from a variety of vendors, using some of his family and himself. He assumes they are absent from his dashboard, as usual. Later, after receiving the complaint, the publisher described it as a technical error. The number of e-books or POD books that have been ordered is therefore unknown to writers.

Numerous dishonest publishers set up online publishing sites and accept submissions from unpublished writers. To publish the e-book, they subsequently sought payment. However, as is well known, many multinational companies, such as Amazon KDP, do not charge writers for ISBNs, e-books, or marketing. They don't have a predetermined cutoff.

For those who are unaware, such publications continue to mislead them in several ways. There are so many dishonest internet publishers that collect the proceeds from book sales, shut down their websites, and then reopen them as thieves acting as publishers.

If your book is in the hands of these publishers, its subject matter may be copied and sold elsewhere without your knowledge. Therefore, the affected writers advise being cautious when submitting novels, not just to reputable publications but also to anonymous publishing houses.
