Girder Launching machine collapsed, a total of 16 bodies have been recovered

 


Voice 9, News Desk: In Maharashtra, 15 people were killed and three were injured after a girder launching machine collapsed near Shahpur in Thane. Reports say that the people who got killed were mostly the workers who were present at the site. 

The machine was being used in the construction of Phase III of the Samruddhi Express Highway. Two NDRF teams are working at the site after a crane fell on the slab of a bridge in Shahapur tehsil of Thane district. Shahpur Police confirmed the news.

According to the NDRF, multiple people are believed to be trapped beneath the fallen structure.
"Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Shahpur Tehsil of Thane District on the under-construction Samruddhi Expressway in which one Crane fell on a Slab of a Bridge on which two NDRF teams are working on the site," the statement stated. Authorities said 16 bodies have been found so far, with three injuries recorded.
According to preliminary reports, the crane fell from a height of 200 feet above the earth. It was being utilized to raise the girder of a bridge that was still under construction. The causes of the machine's failure could not yet be determined.
