Just Book
The
writing industry may be difficult, especially for novice authors who do not have
a track record of previous publishing. It is crucial to understand that no
respectable established press seeks unpublished authors. The publishers on this
list were chosen because they had previously published a number of debut
novels.
This list's publishers do not require literary agents. You may submit directly to these publishers. These are not vanity presses, self-publishers, or completely new publications.
All these magazines do not
consider any submissions written, developed, or assisted by these tools.
Attempting to submit these works may result in being banned from submitting
them in the future.
Analog
Science Fiction and Fact Magazine
Analog’s Science Fiction and Fact magazine is an established market for science fiction stories.
Analog pays 8–10 cents per word for short fiction (up to approximately 20,000 words), 6 cents per word for serials (40,000–80,000 words), 9 cents per word for factual articles, and $1 per line for poetry.
Analog is a long-running market for science fiction stories and factual articles that date back to 1930. In terms of fiction, they have no hard and fast editing requirements, but they want the stories to be realistic, with plausible characters (not necessarily humans) doing believable things, no matter how wonderful the setting. Take a look at some excerpts from the current issue to get a sense of the material they publish. They pay between 8 and 10 cents per word for shorter stories (up to 20,000 words), 6 cents per word for serials (40,000–80,000 words), and $1 per line for poetry. The length of the pieces must be roughly 4,000 words, and the remuneration is 9 cents for each word. All work must be completed.

It is published six times a year as a 208-page double issue in print and
digital media.
Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine is an established market for science
fiction stories. Asimov’s pays 8–10 cents per word for short stories up to

shorter than 1,000 words or longer than 20,000 words, and we don’t serialize
novels.
They
are searching for character-driven stories in which the characters, rather than
the science, take center stage. They like serious, thought-provoking work, but
there is always room for levity. They'll also look at borderline fantasy,
slipstream fiction, and surreal literature. Stories should ideally be between
1,000 and 20,000 words long. Take a look at their writer's guidelines for a
more detailed understanding of their criteria.
They
pay 8–10 cents per word for tales up to 7,500 words, and 8 cents per word after
that. They pay $1 for every line of poetry that does not exceed 40 lines.
