Turning off the ICC ODI World Cup trophy on the famed
Padma Bridge. At 4:40 pm on Monday, the trophy was taken to the Mawa end of the
Padma Bridge on the Lauhjang upazila of Munshiganj. The
trophy was set up in front of a throng of reporters and onlookers beside Padma
Bridge's pillar number 1.
Brought from Dhaka under tight security, the Mawa
end of the Padma Bridge was displayed for 30 minutes. At 5:10 p.m., BcB
officials departed with the trophy for Dhaka. The World Cup trophy's arrival
has the cricket enthusiasts in this country in a frenzy. On the Padma's banks,
people waited to see the award up close.
At 12:20 on Monday morning, the trophy was delivered to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The first of a three-day trip to Bangladesh starts today. After posing for pictures on the Padma Bridge, the trophy is making its way back to Dhaka. The trophy ceremony will take place on Tuesday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The national men's and women's cricket teams, current and past players, officials, organizers, and representatives of the media can view the trophy from 9 am to 12 pm.
The trophy will also be available for viewing by
the general public. Ordinary cricket lovers will get the opportunity to view
the trophy on the third day of Wednesday, from 11 am to 8 pm, at Bashundhara City Shopping Mall. People
can use a camera. The World Cup will take place in India this year.
