Bangladesh: Today, with the Prime Minister, 37 members of the new cabinet took their oaths

 


 

Biswajit Mondal, Voice 9, Dhaka Bureau: As if for the fourth time and as if for the fifth time in her long political life, Sheikh Hasina has taken the oath as the Prime Minister of the country. The new members of the Awami League government, victorious in the 12th National Parliament elections, have taken their oaths. Today, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, President Mohammad Sahabuddin will administer the oath to the new members of the cabinet. A cabinet of 37 members, including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has been formed. 

The 25 ministers who have taken the oath are: AKM Mozammel Haque, Obaidul Quader, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Deepu Moni, Tajul Islam, Faruk Khan, Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali, Anisul Haque, Hasan Mahmud, Abdus Shahid, Sadhan Chandra Majumdar, RA M Ubaidul Moktadiur Chowdhury, and Abdur Rahman.



In addition, there are Narayan Chandra Chanda, Abdus Salam, Mahibul Hasan Choudhury Nowfel, Farhad Hossain, Faridul Haque Khan, Jillur Hakim, Sabeer Hossain Choudhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Nazmul Hasan Papon, Yafes Osman, and Samant Lal Sen. There are 11 new state ministers: Simin Hossain Rimi, Nasrul Hamid, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Mohammad AR Arafat, Mahibul Rahman, Jahid Faruq, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Rumana Ali, Shafiqur Rahman Choudhury, Ahsanul Titu, and Khalid Mahmud Choudhury.

In the 12th National Parliament elections held on January 7, the Awami League won 222 out of 299 seats, the National Party won 11 seats, the Independent Party won 62 seats, and 14 parties and workers' parties led by the Awami League as well as the National Socialist Party (JSD) won one seat each. Bangladesh Kalyan Party won one seat, and voting for one seat was postponed.
