Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the fire incident that occurred during the Mahakumbh, as reported by his office, which also noted the presence of senior officials at the scene. According to news agency PTI, Prime Minister Modi has communicated with CM Yogi Adityanath regarding the fire incident. Bhaskar Mishra, the in-charge of Akhara Police Station, stated, "The explosion of two LPG cylinders in Sector 19 of the Maha Kumbh Mela resulted in a significant fire affecting the tents of Gita Press."
Sangbad Voice 9, News Desk: A massive fire erupted at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday, triggered by the explosion of two LPG cylinders in Sector 19. The fire spread rapidly, consuming 18 tents and creating a state of panic among the attendees. Bhaskar Mishra, the in-charge of Akhara Police Station, confirmed that the cylinder explosion was the source of the fire.
Pramod Sharma, the Chief Fire Officer for Kumbh Mela, reported that
extensive measures were taken to control the flames and mitigate further
damage. The official X account for Maha Kumbh 2025 expressed its sorrow over
the incident, stating, “We are deeply saddened by the fire at Maha Kumbh. The
administration is actively engaged in relief and rescue efforts. We pray for
the safety of all.”
