Voice 9, News Desk: Following a landslide in the
tribal hamlet of Irshalwadi in the Khalapur tehsil of the Raigad district in
the coastal Konkan area of Maharashtra, at least five people were killed, and
several more were thought trapped. Up until now, 75 people have been saved.
On Wednesday night, between 22:30 and 2:03,
there was a landslide occurrence. Over the past three days, severe rains have
drenched the western Indian state's coastline region.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said,
"The priority is to save lives. Search and rescue operations have been
launched on a war footing.
People living on the side of the Morbe Dam in the Raigad area, are claimed to have been particularly heavily struck by the disaster, which occurred between 11:30 p.m. and 12 a.m.
In Irsalvadi, there are around 46–50 houses, of
which 25 people have been successfully evacuated despite the nonstop rain,
according to information provided by Uday Samant. He claimed that Eknath
Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, is always keeping an eye on the
situation.
