Alaska police kill an "extremely agitated" bear who charges several people

Voice 9, International Desk: Police shot and killed an "extremely agitated" black bear that was roaming through two Alaska communities and charging at several people. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game's Anchorage district biologist, Dave Battle, told the Anchorage Daily News that the bear charged at a father and his son. A woman was found dead last week in Yellowstone National Park after a suspected grizzly bear assault. A 66-year-old man was killed by a black bear in an unprovoked assault in Arizona in June.

The incident came just days after officials at Glacier National Park had to kill a five-year-old grizzly bear. According to the National Park Service, the bear had been "food-conditioned" and was demonstrating "increasingly aggressive behavior" that "posed a threat to human safety" after successfully taking food from campers. The bear was exterminated on July 20, according to officials.

On Sunday night, the Anchorage Police Department tweeted about the ongoing issue, stating that the neighborhood was experiencing "Alaska problems."
