Voice 9, International Desk: Bangladesh is
attempting to bring back two fugitive army commanders who were implicated in
the assassination of the country's founding father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and
members of his family on August 15, 1975, in their Dhaka home.
The heinous murder of Sheikh Mujib and his whole
family on India's Independence Day in order to save his two daughters, Sheikh
Hasina and Sheikh Rehana, who were traveling abroad, shook the entire world 28
years ago.
Anisul Huq, Bangladesh's Law and Justice
Minister told PTI in an exclusive interview that his government was negotiating
the repatriation of two "self-confessed killers." SHBM Rashed
Chowdhury is from the United States, and SHBM Noor Chowdhury is from Canada.
"While Major Shariful Haque Dalim's
whereabouts are unknown, we do know that Col. Rashed Chowdhury is in the United
States and Noor Chowdhury, another coup plotter involved in Bangabandhu's
assassination, is in Canada." "We're still negotiating with the US to
get the killer officer back," Huq stated.
